PERÚ,MorE than just machu picchu

Famous for the Inca ruins, Perú is home to the marvelous site of Machu Picchu and so much more! With one of the largest indigenous populations in Latin America, there is no shortage of cultural diversity, vibrancy and tradition in Perú. From the cozy mountain towns of the Andes, the lush Amazon jungle and rain forest to the bustling metropolis of Lima and in between, Perú has something for everyone. Perú also stands out globally as one of the top gastronomical capitals in the world and is home to the Pisco Sour. For those looking to leave the bar stool behind and get their heart rate going Perú offers incredible hiking and outdoor adventure opportunities and wildlife observation. Dress in layers as we travel throughout Perú various climate zones and elevations as we scratch the surface of South American jewel.

Our trip begins in urban Lima, tasting our way through the Barranco, Miraflores and historic districts before heading to our Amazon jungle lodge in Puerto Maldonado.

After days observing the flora and fauna and kicking back in a hammock, we'll will make our way to the iconic city of Cusco. High up in the Andes, this city is an example of Spanish colonial architecture built directly on top of Inca construction, making for a unique cityscape.

After adjusting the altitude and enjoying time in the Cusco region we will begin our journey throughout the Sacred Valley before arriving in Aguascalientes in preparation for our visit to Machu Picchu. As we watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu we can contemplate what this great Inca civilization was once like.

We will conclude our trip visiting one of the world's highest navigable lakes, Lake Titicaca. A highlight for many, in this region we will participate in a cultural immersion overnight stay with families on the island of Amantaní while also visiting the island of Taquile and the floating Uros islands.
